Volcano Ring hiking trail
125 km around the flanks of the volcano
The Vogelsberg Volcano Ring hiking trail is a new regional highlight distinguished by a varied and interesting route, wonderful views and a host of rural impressions. Away from built-up areas and roads, it takes you through wildflower meadows and mysterious beech forests, and beside bubbling brooks. Along the way, basalt crags, gentle hills with hedged fields and broad meadow valleys alternate with lakes and fast-flowing streams while, on the higher reaches, you will frequently be pleasantly surprised by panoramic views.
The whole 125 km can be covered in six easy stages in a week from the starting point of your choice. Choose, too, from a broad spectrum of inns, guest houses and hotels. And take advantage of a transfer service. Package arrangements with luggage transport to the next hotel are also available.
